Robin wrote what I have long believed about you, Hugo, and what I conveyed in my last comment.
You are a passionate, creative person! You love love and that is a beautiful quality, yet one you've been externally demonized for and which you've internalized. I suppose that is simplistic and I'm not advocating for misuse of power dynamics. However, I have seen enough writings from those students you purportedly took advantage of to know that few would even now say that they were actively harmed by your connections.
I may be wrong. You know the details, I don't. I do continue to believe, as I say to many of my clients, that the devaluing beliefs you hold about yourself did not come from inside. And the work is to hold curiosity and courage in equal measure to raise those beliefs into the light, to see where they originated, and allow them to return to where they came from. Outside of ourselves.
Then we get to see who we really are!
You're a good guy, Hugo! You care deeply and want desperately to be loved. And there are certainly traps there, but they cannot be honestly viewed without curiosity and the courage that goes with it.
I cannot express just how much I love this letter and how much I admire Robin for writing it.
This is an absolute treasure of a letter. Such a wise, compelling, and loving message to send your daughter.
