Many years ago, I lived with a woman -- one of those fortunate enough to escape my marriage proposals -- who did not believe that true love permitted locked doors. (You will forgive me for beginning far too many of my personal essays with a reference to past romances. In my aging chasteness, I like to remind myself that, as Andrew Aguecheek put it in the saddest line Shakespeare ever wrote, “I was adored once, too.”)
I remember when feminists would fight with mra’s that they would use dirty and underhanded tactics such as missrepressenting what the mra’s actually said. Ironically this turned me more to the mra side because I always thought that if someone was telling the truth and on the side of justice they wouldn’t need dirty tricks. I figure like the insurgent mathematics Stanley McCrystal spoke of, David Futrelle and his ilk created many more mgtow and manosphere content creators. Someone like Andrew Tate is most likely a grifter but he wasn’t created in a vacuum. If young men didn’t relentlessly hear how toxic their masculinity was while being told their struggles were insignificant because they were privileged, they would likely tell mr. Tate too f/Ck off🤭
