Is person who wrote this article really trying to act like she wasn’t a bad person and “we didn’t hear her side” like stfu. Don’t try and defend her or her action “one fateful moment, shouldn’t define us” it sure as hell should when it gets an innocent person killed. A innocent child. Get real. The article screams I’m racist but I won’t say it I’ll just write an article and hide it in it

I think there is importance in viewing how a person thinks and acts regardless of their actions so we can see why they think that way and maybe ulterior motives they posses/possessed. With a critical lense, insight can be gained from even the most despicable people. However I think it's gross how negligent this article is. Yes, none of us knew her, but we do know she lied and had many inconsistencies in her story and even went so far as to compare the "trauma" of being touched on the hand by the child (something that has never been proven and is largely contested) to said child being ruthlessly manged and murdered. She continued to spread the same lies and attitude that caused that little boy to be tortured until his gruesome death. Your neutral side on the issue doesn't come off as enlightening or smart but rather callous and ignorant.

Kissing the man and crying for the case's victory, knowing that your husband and your brother-in-law kidnapped and murdered that young child, does not imply remorse. Whatever this memoir is, it does not justify the wrongdoings of the past. A true regretful person is when you condemn the vicious acts that your family members have done and help the families of the people who have lost their child. You don't kiss and smile, then run away and admit the killing, this showed that the men in your family were still proud of what they had done after all those years. I am talking about the two murderers. Family? Family first? NO! Someone who has principles would never choose their family members for that brutal murder. What did Carolyn Bryant Donham do instead? She ran away and hid so she would not show her face to the public—the same face that showed no shame back in 1955. If she truly regretted it, I know a lot of people who were truly regretful of the killings they had done or of their families who had done them. These regretful people had paid visits, apologized many times, and helped these families despite the crimes they committed. But what did she do? She ran away and hid. Times had changed, she could've done something, at least, all she did was write a book and claim to be the victim who prays as a white Christian woman. Where was she? After finding out there's no more segregation between white and black, the two manslaughters conveniently died of cancer, and the wife hid to die at old age. They can't take the fast changes in the world around them. I'm so disappointed that, up to this day, the family members of Carolyn Bryant still believe her lies.

"What's the matter, baby? Can't you take it?"

"I've been with white women before."

If Emmerit Till can't pronounce 'b' due to his stuttering problems and needed to whistle in order to use the 'b' sound, how did he say the 'B' word in 'Baby' and 'before'? That should've been used in court.

She had a pistol and was willing to kill.

I am sorry that book should be released today. She is gone now, she ruined that poor child's life and his mother had to live beyond his short life.

Her "side" was a life lived. And several sturdy bricks in the wall of unpunished atrocities. Your text is salt.

I agree with each and everyone of y'all I watched the movie if his body actually looked like that and she lived that LONG i'm so disappointed. She should have been dead from the start. When i watched the movie everything in me wanted to hop through the screen and torture her just as bad as she let them men torture that little boy. Not all white people are cruel but she definitely was.

I like so many others was EXTREMELY HAPPY to hear of her passing. She wasn’t even a woman she was just a female (big difference). I watched the movie and kept wishing that not this waste of a female, but ALL, the judge from the trial, the bailiff, the sheriff and ESPECIALLY her husband & brother could somehow be still alive today and dropped off in any neighborhood with black people today so they could receive REAL JUSTICE. I hope that she is now suffering a horrible indefinite torturous experience in HELL

None of you knew her. She was a very fine woman. She was 21 years old and her older husband and those around him did it. The movie was exactly that...a movie. You are all the real racist hate filled ones and if you were true Christians, forgiveness instead of hate would be in your heart. Rest in peace Carolyn
