In his deeply moving tribute to his mother late on Friday afternoon, King Charles concluded his speech with a little Shakespeare: “My darling mama, ‘may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.’” It was 10AM in California when I heard the king’s address, and I was on my lunch break, briskly walking along Pacific Coast Highway near the store where I work the 6-2 shift. I had been tearful during the speech, but when I heard the concluding lines, I gave a little squeal.
Love this meditation the question. Also love this line; “ I was very much raised to be part of Adams’ anticipated third generation, the one studying poetry.” You’ve inspired me to organize a poetry slam & call it The Third Generation!
